The NHB Men’s Morning Routine Guide
Most men don’t have time for, or interest in, the perfect morning routine. The reality is that mornings are a little chaotic, especially if you have kids. I have tried many times to wake up earlier to squeeze quiet time out of the day, but I have learned that most of my quiet time actually happens when I can get out the door efficiently.
That does not mean spending less time with my family. In fact, I have embraced the fact that my priority in the morning should be being present with my kids. That time matters. It is also limited. Getting out the door on time allows me to use the remaining part of the day to think clearly, work when my brain is at its best, and stay consistent with my health.
This guide comes from that reality.
What This Guide Is
As our first guide, I wanted to share a realistic morning routine that has made my life feel more full, less chaotic, and more sustainable. This is not about waking up at 5 a.m., cold plunging, journaling for 20 minutes, or drinking mushroom coffee you hate.
This is a simple framework for men who want to feel better in the morning without turning life into a performance. Everything here is practical, repeatable, and built around habits and products I actually use myself.
We built this guide the same way we build our products. Fewer ingredients. Better inputs. Real results.
The Three Rules
Rule One. Keep it clean.
If the ingredients are questionable, we skip it. No fillers. No artificial junk. No mystery blends. Whether it goes on your skin or in your body, it should be made from things you can recognize and trust.
Rule Two. It has to work.
Good intentions do not matter if the product does nothing. We care about real results. Better skin. Better sleep. Better energy. If something is popular but useless, we are not interested.
Rule Three. Simple beats perfect.
The best routine is the one you will actually stick to. We choose fewer, better tools and habits that fit real life. No complicated schedules. No endless steps. Just what moves the needle.
Everything in this guide follows these three rules. If it does not meet them, it does not make the cut.
The Morning Essentials
You do not need a dozen products to have a good morning. You need a few clean essentials that do their job and get out of the way. These are the basics we come back to every day.
1. Clean Skin Care and Hair
Mornings start with your skin. Warm water, a clean face, and a simple moisturizer go a long way. We prefer products with short ingredient lists that hydrate, protect, and support the skin barrier without feeling greasy or heavy. One good balm beats a crowded bathroom counter every time.
This is why we built our All Over the Place Balm to work everywhere, not just your face. We started using it in our hair as well. It adds just enough texture to help it flow naturally and kicked another product out of the cabinet. It lives in our Grooming & Skin lineup for a reason.
2. Hydration First
Most men wake up dehydrated and do not realize it. A glass of water with minerals before coffee can make a noticeable difference in energy and focus. Skip the sugary drinks and look for clean electrolytes that replace what your body actually needs.
3. Coffee That Doesn’t Wreck You
Coffee is not the problem. Bad coffee is. Low quality beans and mystery roasts can spike anxiety and crash energy. Look for clean, well sourced coffee and drink it after some food or hydration. Your nervous system will thank you.
4. Foundational Supplements
You do not need a shelf full of supplements. A few foundational ones go a long way. Creatine for strength and mental performance. Protein powder to help hit macro goals and stay satiated. Simple, proven tools that support how men actually live and train.
5. Light Movement
You do not need a full workout first thing in the morning. A short walk, some stretching, or a few minutes outside helps wake the body up naturally. Sunlight and movement set the tone better than scrolling your phone.
A Simple Morning Routine
This is not about doing everything perfectly. It is about starting the day with a few small wins that add up.
The Routine
Wash your face with warm water.
No harsh cleansers. Just wake the skin up and clear the sleep off.
Apply a small amount of balm.
Warm it between your hands and keep it simple. Face, beard, dry spots.
Drink water with minerals.
Hydrate before caffeine. This step alone improves how most mornings feel.
Have your coffee.
Choose quality. Drink it slowly. Do not use it to replace sleep.
Take foundational supplements.
Keep it consistent.
Get outside for a few minutes.
Sunlight and fresh air reset your internal clock more than any app.
Move a little.
Walk, stretch, or breathe. You do not need to sweat to wake up.
That is it. No alarms at 5 a.m. No cold plunges required.
Final Word
A good morning does not come from discipline alone. It comes from removing friction and choosing better inputs. Clean products. Simple habits. Fewer decisions. This guide is meant to be a starting point, not another standard to live up to.
Build a routine that supports your life, not one that runs it.
